TLU Scored Own Goal Off Mollie Porter's Assist To Bump HSU A Win

ABILENE, Texas - Texas Lutheran scored an own goal in double overtime to send the Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team to victory over TLU 1-0 in American Southwest Conference action Saturday at Shelton Stadium.

The game was scoreless until the second overtime when Mollie Porter, a sophomore defender for the Cowgirls, crossed and a TLU player headed the ball unintentionally into their own goal. The referees called the goal for HSU.

Jessica Stockton, Alyssa Wester and Laura Freeman led the team with five shots. Wester and Porter led with two shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Goold had one save and shutout TLU.

The Cowgirls dominated with 31 to four shots and ten to zero corner kicks in the game.

HSU moves to 3-0 in ASC action and 6-2-1 overall and TLU drops to 0-2-0 in conference play and 3-4-0 overall.

The Cowgirls return to action on Friday, October 4th when they travel to Austin, Texas to play Concordia in ASC action at 3 p.m.
