Sept. 24, 2004 SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 17th-ranked women's soccer got a leg up in the American Southwest Conference race as they defeated Texas Lutheran, 2-0, Friday afternoon in Seguin. Cowgirl All-American sweeper Mollie Porter made her presence felt not only on the defensive side, but also came up with a goal in the first half, off a Kala Chalman assist. She added an assist on a Mindi Zamora goal in the second half. HSU outshot TLU, 15-10 and 9-5 on goal. The two teams met for the American Southwest Conference Tournament title last season with the Cowgirls winning 2-0. HSU improved to 5-1 on the year and 3-0 in ASC play. Texas Lutheran fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in ASC play. It was only the second and third goals the Lady Bulldogs have given up this season. HSU plays at Schreiner on Saturday. |
