ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team improved its American Southwest Conference unbeaten streak to 72 games with a 7-1 pasting of East Texas Baptist, Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex. Freshman Amy Kuykendall had her second hat-trick of the season with three goals. She scored in the 30, 56 and 63rd minutes. Laura Newbrough scored on a header in the third minute to give the Cowgirls the lead. Janna Wilson tied the game at the 18:14 mark with a goal from Alina Kilkenny. Kuykendall gave the Cowgirls the lead for good in the 30th minute from Mindi Zamora. Alison Baker added a goal off a corner in the 38th minute. Whitney Piendak scored a pair of goals on assists from Morgan Loyd in the 55th and 56th minutes. Christi Carr got the win in goal for the Cowgirls. Kelli Shipley was stellar in goal with 14 big saves in the game for ETBU, keeping the game a lot closer than what it could have been. HSU outshot ETBU 42-3 in the game and had 13 corners to none for the Tigers. HSU is now 5-0-2 on the year and 3-0-0 in ASC play. East Texas Baptist fell to 4-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.
