SEGUIN, Texas - For the first time in 18 games, Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team trailed in an American Southwest Conference for more than 11 seconds, but the Cowgirls turned it on to win the ASC opener over Texas Lutheran, 3-1, Friday afternoon in Seguin. Kelli Layden scored 4:54 into the game for TLU, but it was the only goal and one of only three shots the Bulldogs had in the entire game as the Cowgirls rallied for the win. Freshman Amy Kuykendall scored her sixth goal of the season in the 27th minute for the Cowgirls on an assist from Meredith Barron. Mindi Zamora scored in the 62nd minute and in the 74th minute when Jessica Flobeck scored on a pass from Kuykendall. The Cowgirls moved to 3-0-2 on the year and are 1-0-0 in league play. It moved the Cowgirls ASC unbeaten streak to 70 games. TLU fell to 3-2 on the year. HSU plays at Schreiner on Saturday. --- HSU Athletics --- |
