Sept. 6, 2003 SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team finished its tough four-game season-opening roadtrip with a 5-1 loss against No. 3 Trinity, Saturday evening at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. The Cowgirls closed their deficit to 2-1 with a Cathy Castagnos goal in the 60th minute on an assist by freshman Stefanie Patterson. However, the Tigers showed their might with three goals in the final 15 minutes of the game. HSU lost to three of the top 20 teams in the nation in the first two weeks to the season and fell to 1-3 on the year. Rachel Goold and April Johnson split halves in goal. The Cowgirls managed 10 shots in the game, with Patterson having four of the shots. The Cowgirls returns to Shelton Stadium next Saturday to play UT-Dallas in a rematch of the 2002 American Southwest Conference Tournament in the Cowgirls' home opener. |
