Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team battled back from a 0-2 deficit to earn a 2-2 tie against Southwestern University, Tuesday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene.

The Cowgirls trailed 1-0 in the 13th minute when Casey Grier took a ball inside the box and found the back of the net when a Cowgirl defender fell down. Southwestern made it 2-0 in the 50th minute when Laura Kromann.

HSU responded when freshman Jordan Morley scored her first Cowgirl goal on a penalty kick. Beth Craig had just hit the post on a penalty kick moments earlier for the Cowgirls.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Jackson played the second half in place of starter Christi Carr, who sat out as a medical precaution. Jackson was solid in goal as she stopped four shots, including a penalty kick by Southwestern in the 66th minute.

Freshman Amy Kuykendall tied the game for the Cowgirls in the 82nd minute when she scored off a direct kick serve from Whitney Piendak.

The Cowgirls outshot Southwestern, 40-11 in the game and had 18 corner kicks to none. Pirate goalkeeper Erin Snyder stood on her head the entire game, stopping 17 shots.

HSU is now 0-0-2 on the year and Southwestern is 0-1-1. HSU hosts Austin College on Friday at 3 p.m.
