Sept. 5, 2003 SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 20 Emory in the first day of the Austin College Classic, Friday evening in Sherman. The Cowgirls outshot Emory 10-7, but were unable to find the back of the net. In the first half, the Cowgirls outshot EU 5-1. Junior Rachel Goold played in goal for the Cowgirls in the first half. Freshman April Johnson played the second half. "We played hard and we learned a lot of things about ourselves." said HSU Head Coach Marcus Wood. "This team is young, but talented we will keep getting better and playing the good competition early, will only prove beneficial later in the season. "We had some chances we just were unable to finish. We had some trouble on a couple of clears out of the box and they picked up two late goals." HSU plays No. 3 Trinity at 5:30 Saturday. |
