Patterson's Two Goals Leads The Cowgirls To a 2-1 Lid-Lifting Win

TACOMA, Wash. - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won its season opener 2-1 in overtime at Pacific Lutheran University, Friday night in Tacoma, Washington.

The Cowgirls received two goals from freshman forward Stefani Patterson, including the game winner 1:56 seconds into overtime. Patterson got the Cowgirls on the board off of a deflection in the 27th minute.

Alyssa Burleson scored Pacific Lutheran's only goal on a free kick that hit the crossbar and went in the net in the 41st minute.

Rachel Goold played the first half in goal for the Cowgirls and freshman April Johnson earned the win with her play in the second half and in overtime.

With the win, head coach Marcus Wood tied the school record for wins in a career with 48, tying Misail Tsapos.

HSU plays at seventh-ranked Puget Sound on Saturday at 7 p.m.
