Mitchell Fires A Career Best 79

Salem Mitchell shot a career-best 79 to pace the Cowgirls

Sept. 24, 2002

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team had to withdraw from the Texas Lutheran Fall Classic when senior Mandy Humphreys was injured after stepping into a hole in Monday's action. The Cowgirls only had four players entered in the event so the team score could not count with three players.

The team withdraw overshadowed the fact that two Cowgirls, Salem Mitchell (79) and Crystal Cooksey (99) shot HSU career lows.

Mitchell had a two-day 170 to pace the Cowgirls. Leslie Glazener shot a 96-98-194 and Cooksey shot a 113-99-212.

St. Mary's won the event with a two-day 619. Mary Hardin-Baylor was 30 strokes back in second. Jillian Wyne shot a 5-over 149 to win medalist honors.
