Cowgirls Finish Fourth in Opening Tournament

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational, which was played at the par-72, 5,800-yard Chapparal Golf Course in Seguin.

HSU shot rounds of 323 and 328 to finish with a 651 total.

The Cowgirls two veterans Kristi Martin and Chandra Hayes were the two top scores for HSU. Martin shot a 75-77-152 to finish in a tie for fifth. Hayes shot 76-84-160 to finish in a tie for 10th.

Whitney Mitchell shot 85-82-167 in her first Cowgirl tournament. Andrea Conley (87-85-172) and Lauren Williams (90-87-177) rounded out the lineup. Megan Bennett shot 85-90-175 playing as an individual.

Southwestern University won the tournament with a 624. Jessica Harbin of St. Edward's shot a 76-70-144 to win the medalist race.

The Cowgirls are off until the Trinity Tournament on October 9-10.
