Cowgirls Earn Team NCAA Bid; Phillips Earns Men's Individual Slot

INDIANAPOLIS - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team earned one of 10 inivitations to the NCAA Division III Golf Championships, May 11-14 at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wis.

It marks the third time in five years that the Cowgirls have advanced to the Nationals with a fourth-place finish in 2001 being the top finish at the Division III level.

The Cowgirls top four scorers at the ASC Championships last month were freshmen. Junior Salem Mitchell is the only upperclassmen on the HSU roster.

Senior Chris Phillips earned one of only five national at-large bids to compete as an individual at the Men's Championship at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club in Calimesa, Calif, May 10-13. A first-team all-ASC selection, Phillips led the ASC in stroke average this season at 74.40.
