Cowgirls Move Up To Fourth At TLU

SEGUIN, Texas -

Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team improved its team score by 31 strokes in the second round of the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic, to finish fourth on the par-72, 5800-yard Chaparral Country Club Course in Seguin.

The Cowgirls found themselves in sixth place after the first round of the event after firing a 349, but bounced back with a 318 the third best round of the day. HSU finished with a 667, six strokes behind Northwood for third place. Tyler Community College and 2004 NCAA Division III runner-up Mary Hardin-Baylor finished 1-2 at 623 and 638.

Sophomore Kristi Martin led the Cowgirl charge with rounds of 77 and 80 to finish in sixth place overall with a 157. Sophomore Andra Boxberger also had a top 20 finish with an 88-80-168. Freshman Kate Moss came back from an opening-round 90 with an 80 to finish tied for 21st at 170.

Sophomore Chandra Hayes had the most improvement from day one to day two, going from a 94 to a 78. Jessica Travis went from 94-84 to round out the Cowgirl lineup. Freshman Shelby Harp, playing as an individual for the Cowgirls had to withdraw.
