HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Hardin-Simmons' senior golfer Kristi Martin is in a tie for 19th place after the first round of the Division III Golf Championships at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Martin, who started on No. 10, played her first three holes at one-under par, before a string of four straight bogies on 13-16. She would par out the rest of the back to play the first side in three-over 40.

Martin then hit a snag on No. 1 and No. 2 when she went double bogey and triple bogey. After a par at three she had back-to-back bogies before four straight pars to card an 83.

The top 20 players in the 111-player field earn All-American status. The tournament is a 72-hole event and will resume on Wednesday, with Martin teeing off at 7:20 CST.
