FRANKSTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team finished second and Cowgirl junior Kristi Martin fired a 77 en route to medalist honors at the American Southwest Conference Championship at Prairie Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Frankston, Texas.

The Cowgirls improved 13 strokes from round one, firing a 332 but they could not make up any ground on Mary Hardin-Baylor as the Lady Crusaders matched the Cowgirls 332 and its two-day 666 gave UMHB its seventh straight ASC title. McMurry, LeTourneau and Texas Lutheran rounded out the team scoring.

Martin shot two steady rounds with a 78 and 77 for a 166, which was good for a two-stroke win over Kaci Fritsch of UMHB. First round lead Jenna Felechner of UMHB shot an 83 after a 75 yesterday to finish third.

HSU's Andra Boxberger, Megan Bennett and Chandra Hayes all finished in the top 10 to earn All-ASC honors. Boxberger went 84-87-171 to finish fifth, Bennett shot 87-85-172 to tie for sixth and Hayes improved 13 strokes from day one with an 83 in the second round to finish 10th with a 179. Andrea Conley shot an 88 for HSU.

The Cowgirls are likely to receive a bid into the NCAA Championships when the field is selected next week.
