McKINNEY, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team finished in fourth place at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tuesday afternoon at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney.

The Cowgirls had a 350 in the second round and were 33 shots off the pace of Texas Lutheran. The Lady Bulldgos, broke Mary Hardin-Baylor's seven-year run as the ASC Champion with a 669 total to take the win by seven shots over UMHB. McMurry shot a 357-344 to finish one shot ahead of the Cowgirls 352-350-702.

The Cowgirls were led by Whitney Mitchell, who shot rounds of 83 and 86 for a 169 to finish in seventh place. She claimed second-team All-ASC honors.

Kristi Martin shot an 89 and 84 to finish at 173. She tied with teammate DeLane Griffith who shot 88-85-173 and both finished in a tie for 11th place, two shots outs of All-ASC honors.

Chandra Hayes shot rounds of 92 and 95 to post a 187 and Lauren Schaub had rounds of 97 and 99 for a 196.

Jenna Felechner of UMHB won the medalist title with rounds of 76 and 79.

The Cowgirls' season is most likely finished, barring a surprise bid to the NCAA Championship. Martin has a shot to be picked as an individual for the NCAA Championship.
