ABILENE, Texas - Mary Hardin-Baylor's women's golf team won its fifth straight American Southwest Conference Championship with a two-day total of 641 at the Diamondback Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday in Abilene.

The second-ranked Lady Crusaders shot rounds of 317 and 324 to easily outdistance the field. Hardin-Simmons shot a 323-353-676 to finish second, McMurry had scores of 339-348-687 to finish third. Texas Lutheran (709) placed fourth, LeTourneau (760) finished fifth and UT-Dallas finished sixth with a 911.

Brittany Cary of McMurry won the medalist race with a 76-80-156 by one stroke over Emily Breedlove of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Cary and Breedlove joined Amanda Tuskey (UMHB), Amy Morgan (McMurry) and Meredith McArthur (UMHB) on the first-team All-ASC team with a top five finish.

Holly Glover (UMHB), Chandra Hayes (HSU), Theresa Ashorn (TLU), Kristi Martin (HSU) and Andra Boxberger (HSU) were all named second-team All-ASC.

Hardin-Simmons had four freshmen and a sophomore in the lineup and Hayes (166) Martin (167) and Boxberger (167) paced the team. Freshman Megan Bennett had a 178 and Salem Mitchell carded a 180.

Mary Hardin-Baylor is virtually assured a spot in the NCAA Championships in May, and Hardin-Simmons and McMurry will have to wait out the selection committee to see if they earned a berth into the bid.
