GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team fired a 339 for its best round of the season and finished in second place of the Berry Creek Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.

The Cowgirls finished two shots ahead of McMurry for second place and were 39 shots behind defending national runner-up Mary Hardin-Baylor. Trinity finished in fourth place and Southwestern was fifth. The tournament should have big implications on who receives an at-large berth from the West region.

Kristi Martin led the Cowgirl charge with an 81. Chandra Hayes, Kate Moss and Andra Boxberger all three fired 86's. Megan Bennett had a 91 for the toss out score and Jessica Travis fired an 88 playing as an individual. Martin finished in fourth place with a 167.

HSU will next be in action at the ASC Championships next week in Kerrville.
