TEMPLE. Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team placed fifth at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Sammons Park Golf Course in Temple.

The Cowgirls went into the day in second place, but HSU was the only one of the top five teams to see their scores rise in the second round. The Cowgirls shot a 347-351--698. Oklahoma Baptist won the title with a 333-331--664. UMHB (687), Southwestern (694) and Lubbock Christian (696) rounded out the top five.

Kristi Martin, who was tied for the lead after the first round, shot a 81-83--164 to finish tied for second. Chandra Hayes was the only Cowgirl to improve her score going 86-83--169 to finish tied for seventh.

Andra Boxberger 89-92--181 and Megan Bennett 91-93--184 rounded out the scoring lineup. Lauren Williams shot a 102-106--208 as the No. 5 player. Andrea Conley shot 100-97--197 playing as an individual.
