SALADO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in seventh place after shooting a 364 in the first round of the Mary Hardin-Baylor Spring Invitational, that is being held at the par-73, 5,816-yard layout at Mill Creek Golf Course in Salado.

The Cowgirls rank fourth out of the Division III teams in the field. Oklahoma City University leads the tournament with a 304. Redlands Community College shot a 326 for second and Southwestern University is the top Division III team with a 334, good for third place. Lubbock Christian (348), McMurry (352) and Trinity (362) are ahead of the Cowgirls on the leaderboard. The Cowgirls are ahead of five West Region Division III teams in the 13-team field.

Freshman Ashley Luecke led the Cowgirl effort with an 82. Whitney Mitchell shot an 87, DeLane Griffith fired a 93, Heather Hambrick cared a 102 and Addie Vest shot 103. Luecke is in ninth place in the medalist race and is second among Division III players.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
