March 18, 2004 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Hardin-Simmons' senior forward Lauren Harris was named first-team Kodak All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The team was announced in conjunction with the Division III Final Four that is being played in Virginia Beach, Va, this weekend. Harris, a three-year starter and a first-team All-ASC selection, averaged 15.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and had 92 assists for the Cowgirls. She was one of the top 3-point shooters in the nation, making 86 3-pointers on the year. The Stephenville, Texas, native led a young Cowgirl team to the Elite Eight, before falling to Wis.-Stevens Point, 67-62. HSU finished the year ranked seventh in the nation and were 27-3. HSU won its seventh straight ASC title this year. It makes three straight years the Cowgirls have had a Kodak All-American, following the footsteps of two-time selection Kendra Anderson. Harris was named all-region by Kodak and joined teammate Diana Martinez as a second-team All-South selection by D3Hoops.com. She also was a Josten's Finalist and third-team Academic All-American by CoSIDA. |
