Harris Earns Academic Honor

ABILENE, Texas - Lauren Harris, a standout forward for the Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team, has been named to the College Division of the College Sports Information Director's of America Academic All-District first team as voted on by member's of District VI of CoSIDA.

Harris, a computer science/exercise science major, has a 3.92 grade point average. She had the second-highest GPA of the first-teamers and will now go on the national ballot for Academic All-American. Harris was the only Division III player on the team.

Harris leads the ninth-ranked Cowgirls with 16 points. She recently set the school record for 3-pointers in a season with 72 and now holds the school mark for most 3-pointers in a game (9), season (72) and a career (205). She has led the Cowgirls to a 22-2 mark this season and HSU is 97-11 in her four seasons.

This marks the fifth straight year the Cowgirls have had a first-team selection to the team.

CoSIDA's district VI is comprised of schools from Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. The College Division includes all non-Division I institutions.
