Cowgirls Look To Extend Winning Streak At McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team enters Tuesday's showdown with McMurry riding a 17-game winning streak. HSU's five seniors will be making their last trip through the league starting Tuesday at McMurry. The five are a combined 42-3 against the ASC West and have won titles their first three seasons. Against McMurry, the seniors lost their first career game to McMurry, but have won eight in a row, including a win in the NCAA playoffs and the ASC Tournament final.

The Cowgirls will hit the road for games at Schreiner and Texas Lutheran next weekend. Look for Saturday's game to be broadcast on the internet and KAGT 90.5.

About Hardin-Simmons

HSU is off to the second-best start in school history. The Cowgirls are 17-0 and ranked second in the nation. Kendra Anderson leads a balanced Cowgirl attack with 19.2 points per game. Three other Cowgirls Lauren Harris (10.9), Laura Ricci (10.0) and Sarah Allen (10.0) all average in double digits.

About McMurry

Sam Nichols' Indians have faltered since starting American Southwest Conference play. The Indians are 2-5 in league action but have won two of their last three games. They are led by freshman Sonya West, who leads the team with 21.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting 55 percent from the floor and is 7-for-11 on 3-pointers. West has also made 88 free throws on the seasons. Melissa Forth averages 12.8 points per game.

The Cowgirls are one of only four teams that remains undefeated this season. They are ranked second in both of the major polls - USA Today/Women's Basketball Coaches Poll and D3hoops.com. They are behind four-time champion Washington University in both polls.
