RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' junior guard Diana Martinez has been named the American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week as she helped the Cowgirls get two big road wins to wrap up crossover play.

Martinez took over the game against Louisiana College when senior leading-scorer Lauren Harris went to the bench early in the second half with four fouls. She ended the game with a career-best 22 points and also came down with five rebounds, dished out four assists and had six steals.

In the showdown with East Division favorite Mississippi College she may have been even better as she had 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and had six points in an 11-0 run at the end after the game was tied at 61 with 2:39 to play. She had a running jumper and then stole the inbounds pass and scored a second later as the Cowgirls stole the win on the road in Clinton.

For the week, Martinez averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game. Martinez leads the Cowgirls in rebounding (72), steals (41) and assists (69) and is second on the team in scoring at 14.6 points per outing.
