The Cowgirls have won three straight games and seemed to be heading into the right direction as their defense has become the staple of this team, much like in year's past. The Cowgirls have outrebounded its last three opponents by 15.6 rebounds per game and have limited those three opponents to 36.1 percent shooting...The Cowgirls continue to get great balance with four players still averaging in double figures...The Cowgirls have also regained some of their perimeter shooting touch in the last three games. In the previous nine games the Cowgirls had hit only 29 3-pointers on the year and the two starting guards had made just 3-of-34 attempts behind the arc. In the last three games the Cowgirls have made 12 3-pointers and Dennard and Hauk have five 3-pointers between them...Junior forward Sonya West has won the ASC West Division player of the week award for the second straight week. She averaged 14.5 points and 15 rebounds in the two games last week...HSU has won 16 straight against Sul Ross State...The Cowgirls are looking to break a two-game slide at the Brownwood Coliseum...HSU is 9-0 this season when it outrebounds its opponent and is 0-2 when they get outrebounded...HSU was ranked No. 26 in the D3hoops.com poll this week. The poll has two ASC teams in the poll with McMurry and Mississippi College at 16 and 25 respectively. |
