West Has Double-Double as Cowgirls Roll

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team played it best game of the season and rolled Texas Wesleyan 92-71 Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Complex in Abilene.

Sonya West led the Cowgirl contingent with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Melissa Henley also added 18 points and Lyssa Dennard had 10 points six assists and five rebounds. Laci Walker added a season-best 10 points off the bench.

HSU won the battle of the boards 58-41 and scored 66 points in the paint and 22 points off of 13 Texas Wesleyan turnovers. The Cowgirls got a big spark from its bench as Walker had 10, Rachael Singletary added nine and Jamie Jones had seven.

Texas Wesleyan was led by Britney Helton's 17 points. Sheleatha Simmons and Tiffany Hill had 12 points each.

The Cowgirls (7-2) return to conference action Thursday when it hosts the University of the Ozarks. Texas Wesleyan fell to 4-6 on the year.
