Henley Leads Cowgirl Rout

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' third-ranked women's basketball team dropped 109 points on Louisiana College in a 109-58 American Southwest Conference win on Monday at the Mabee Complex.

Melissa Henley led the way for the Cowgirls with a career-best 28 points in just 28 minutes of action. She was 13-for-18 from the field and added six rebounds. Diana Martinez had 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. All 17 of her points came in the first half, including a 30-footer at the buzzer. Lindsay Thompson had 13 points off the bench.

The Cowgirls shot 56.3 percent from the field and limited the Lady Wildcats to 35.6 percent. HSU won the battle of the boards 46-30 and forced 27 turnovers, while dishing out 30 assists on 40 made baskets.

HSU improved to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in American Southwest Conference action. LC fell to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in league play. HSU returns to action Dec. 31 at Texas Wesleyan.
