Assist Record Falls As Cowgirls Roll Over UT Dallas

ABILENE, Texas - Preseason National Player of the Year Kendra Anderson scored 23 points and hauled down 14 rebounds in just 25 minutes as Hardin-Simmons women's basketball team defeated UT Dallas 110-49 in a Monday matinee at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls set a school record with 37 assists on 47 baskets and shot 59.5 percent in the win. Six Cowgirls hit double figures - Lauren Harris had 19, Sarah Allen had 16, Erika Keese had 11 and Hannah Jones and Diana Martinez each had 10.

HSU closed the fall portion of its schedule with a 7-0 mark and won the games by an average of 34.4 points. No team has scored over 56 points this season on the Cowgirls, and the last four opponents have not scored over 50 points. HSU is forcing 28.4 turnovers per game.

In the game the Cowgirls raced out to a 28-6 lead and never looked back. Veronica Jones led the assist parade with seven. Five different players had five or more assists in the game.

HSU returns to action on Jan. 2 at East Texas Baptist.
