Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - For the first time in 54 tries an opposing American Southwest Conference team came into the Mabee Complex and defeated the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirl basketball team as McMurry won 77-60 in ASC action on Tuesday night.

Senior Tracie Robbins was the difference for McMurry as she poured in 27 points and Tarra Richardson and Symbri Tuttle had 13 and 12 points each as the Lady Indians shot 54 percent from the field and 55 percent from the 3-point stripe, while making 21 of 25 free throws.

The Cowgirls were led by senior Diana Martinez with 18 points and sophomore post Melissa Henley added 16. Sophomore forward Magna Green, the team's leading rebounder, was injured in the first half and she did not return. Her status will be re-evaluated later in the week.

HSU shot just 38 percent for the game from the field and were outrebounded. They also forced a season low 21 turnovers, while committing 19 of their own.

McMurry was the last ASC team to beat the Cowgirls at home in 2000. That year the two teams met four times, including the ASC final and the NCAA Tournament.

HSU is now 5-1 on the year and 4-1 in league play. McMurry improved to 6-1, 5-0. HSU hosts East leader Mississippi College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
