Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team dropped a 73-65 decision to crosstown rival McMurry, Monday night in American Southwest Conference action at Kimbrell Arena.

McMurry jumped out to a 15-point second-half lead and the Cowgirls battled back but the rally fell short in the end. It was a game that had very little flow as the teams combined for 51 fouls and 69 free throws. The Cowgirls hurt themselves at the line going just 22-for-36.

Both teams had balanced attacks. Sonya West, Shelby Hodges and Melissa Henley each had 11 points for the Cowgirls and Carli Engelke led McMurry with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

The Indians improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in league play. HSU fell to 5-1 and 4-1 in conference play. HSU hits the road to play Louisiana College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
