Cowgirls Fall To Crosstown Foe

Bo Warm

Dec. 8, 2007

Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - McMurry showed why it is nationally ranked as it routed Hardin-Simmons 72-45 in the worst loss by the Cowgirls to a Division III team since the Cowgirls joined the Division in 1997.

McMurry jumped out to a 10-0 lead and HSU never recovered and never led in the game. The Cowgirls were unable to guard former Cowgirl Maigen Sawyer, who fired in a career-best 25 points and tied her own school record with six 3-pointers.

The Cowgirls shot 38 percent from the field in the first half, while McMurry was shooting 64 percent to take a 41-26 halftime lead.

The lone bright spot for the Cowgirls in the first half was the play of Bo Warm, who scored eight of her career-best 14, in the first half. In fact she scored the first eight points of the game for the Cowgirls.

HSU turned the ball over 33 times in the game.

Ashley Allen was the only player besides Warm to score in double figures for HSU with 10. All-American Tarra Richardson had 17 points for McMurry.

McMurry improved to 7-1 on the year and 3-0 in league play. HSU fell to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. HSU will take the week off for finals and return to action next Saturday at Louisiana College.
