Cowgirls Roll Past ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' third-ranked women's basketball team remained undefeated with a 61-44 American Southwest Conference win over East Texas Baptist, Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gym in Marshall, Texas.

The game was never in doubt as the Cowgirls jumped to a 31-12 halftime lead and led by as many as 28 points in the second half. HSU limited the Tigers to 24 percent from the field and forced 31 turnovers in the game.

Diana Martinez had 17 points to pace the Cowgirls. Magna Green had 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Sarah Hauk had her best game as a Cowgirl with five points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

East Texas Baptist's Sade' Stewart led the way with 21 of the 44 points off the bench.

The Cowgirls improved to 5-0 on the year and 4-0 in ASC play. East Texas Baptist fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league play. HSU will take the week off for finals, before hosting cross-town rival McMurry on Dec. 14 at the Mabee Complex.
