ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its home opener 111-50 over Southwest Assemblies of God, Tuesday evening at the Mabee Complex in Abilene. The Cowgirls featured a balanced attack that saw eight players score eight or more points, led by Lauren Harris and Diana Martinez 15 points each. Kandi Williams had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. HSU jumped to a 59-23 halftime lead and never looked back as their pressure defense forced 36 turnovers in the game. HSU won the battle of the boards 40-25. The Cowgirls improved to 1-1 on the season and SWAG fell to 1-5. Hardin-Simmons will host Ozarks in an ASC Crossover game against Ozarks on Saturday at 1 p.m. |
