Final Stats

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Just like in the semifinals on Friday, a tough-shooting first half led to an early deficit and eventually a 57-47 loss to Scranton in the third-place game at the NCAA Division III Women's Final Four.

The Cowgirls shot just 22.2 percent in the first half and trailed 33-17 at halftime. The Cowgirls rallied in the second half, but another flurry by Scranton sealed the win.

Lyssa Dennard led the Cowgirls with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Melissa Henley had 11 points to become the 10th 1,000-point scorer in HSU history. Sonya West had nine points and 11 rebounds.

All-American Taryn Melody had 21 points to pace Scranton, including 17 in the first half. Allison Matt added 12 for Scranton.

HSU finishes its tournament run with a 24-7 record. Scranton improved to 31-2.
