ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' top-ranked women's basketball team ran past Randolph-Macon, 104-80 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Saturday evening in front of 2,198 fans at the Mabee Complex in Abilene Texas.

HSU opened the game on a 13-0 run and were never threatened. The Cowgirls set a school record by hitting 15 3-pointers, including a single-game record-tying eight by Lauren Harris. She tied Cowgirl head coach Shanna Briggs for the most 3-pointers in a game. Her 28 points were a career-high.

All-American Kendra Anderson has 22 points and 12 rebounds in just 29 minutes of action. Point guards Diana Martinez and Veronica Jones each had 11 points and Martinez added six assists.

"It was a great team effort," said Briggs. "We focus on good starts and we came out and got on a roll early. Then Lauren got in the zone and just carried us for a while. It was nice to see all of our girls play well."

The Yellowjackets of Randolph-Macon were led by talented freshman Megan Silva, who had 25 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and seven steals. Emily Crider added 21 and Michelle Orton had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

HSU improved to 27-0 with the win and have won 39 straight at the Mabee Complex. RMC ends its season at 19-11. HSU will play Trinity in the Sectional semifinal on Friday at a time and site to be determined.
