Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - McMurry's Carli Englke scored the last seven points of the game all in the final minute to give the Lady Indians a 68-62 win over Hardin-Simmons in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament, Saturday afternoon at HSU's Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls led most of the game but a Kaycee Venekamp 3-pointer at the 4:17 mark gave McMurry a 54-53 lead. The teams traded baskets the rest of the game until Englke's heroics, that started with a 3-point play.

Diana Martinez finished as the only player in double figures for the Cowgirls with 29 points. She also added 14 rebounds in 40 minutes in what could be the last game of her outstanding Cowgirl career.

Tarra Richardson was a force in the paint for McMurry, scoring 24 points, hauling in 19 rebounds and blocking seven shots. Englke had 19 points for the Indians.

McMurry (19-8) will play Howard Payne on Sunday at 2 p.m. for a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls will hope for an at-large berth from the NCAA or their season ends at 22-4. The pairings will be announced on Sunday at 9:30 CST. The loss was the Cowgirls first ever in 14 American Southwest Conference Tournament games.
