Cowgirls Cap Perfect Regular Season

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team capped a perfect regular-season with a 75-62 victory over Howard Payne, Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum in Brownwood.

Kendra Anderson showed her All-American form with 32 points and 10 rebounds. She scored 22 points in the second half and willed the Cowgirls to victory. She had a 12-point spurt in the second half that allowed the Cowgirls extend a 42-37 lead to 54-43.

Veronica Jones had 10 points off the bench, including seven in the first half when the Cowgirls were in a dry spell on offense. She also broke another HPU run in the second-half with a 3-pointer. Diana Martinez added 10 for the Cowgirls.

The win moved the Cowgirls to 24-0 on the year and they capped their first undefeated regular-season in school history. They finished the conference season 14-0, the first time the Cowgirls have accomplished that feat.

HSU will host the American Southwest Conference Tournament next weekend at the Mabee Complex. They will play LeTourneau on Friday at 7:30. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mississippi College will play the 5:30 game.
