AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team broke its two-game losing steak with a strong second half in a 78-59 American Southwest Conference win over Concordia-Austin, Saturday afternoon at a chilly Woltman Activity Center. HSU got a huge boost from its bench as they blew open a close game with a strong push in the second half. Laci Walker (13), Rachael Singletary (12) and Jamie Jones (11) all reached double figures off the bench and they played key minutes when the game was in doubt. Sonya West had a huge game for the Cowgirls as she had 14 points and a career-best 19 rebounds. The Cowgirls overcame a sloppy effort that saw them turn the ball over 27 times. HSU dominated the boards 51-34. Kassandra Bills had 13 points to lead Concordia-Austin. The Cowgirls finished the regular season with a 20-4 mark and a 19-4 record in league play. Concordia-Austin ended its season with a 8-17 mark and a 7-16. |
