ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' continued its offensive roll with an 89-61 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Saturday. The Cowgirls once again came strong out of the locker room, jumping out to a 12-0 run. The Crusaders were never closer than 10 points the rest of the game after that. HSU honored its five seniors prior to the game and the five seniors finished the last two minutes of the game as a group. Four of the five scored in double figures. Melissa Contrucci had 18 points, Lyssa Dennard had 14, Laci Walker had 13 and Lindsay Steinberger had 11. Jeni Hobbs scored 11 points to give the Cowgirls five players in double figures. The Cowgirls hit eight 3-pointers in the game and limited the Crusaders to two make on the day. HSU also won the battle of the board 52-41. HSU led 44-22 at halftime and won by28. HSU has won by 36.2 points per game in its five-game winning streak. Shannon Barnes led the Crusaders with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Cowgirls are 20-4 on the year and 18-3 in league play. Hsu has now won 20 games in eight straight years. UMHB fell to 16-9 overall and 13-8 in league play.
