ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its fourth straight game with an easy 91-51 victory over Concordia-Austin in American Southwest Conference action Thursday night at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls led by an up-tempo attack they have used the last three games led 31-12 in the first half and never received a challenge. The Tornados were never closer than 16 the rest of the way. Once against the Cowgirls had great balance with five players scoring in double figures, including 12 each by Rachael Singletary, Melissa Contrucci, Laci Walker, 11 by Sarah Hauk and 10 by Lyssa Dennard. Hauk also had nine assists and six steals in just 25 minutes of action. HSU forced 32 turnovers and and outrebounded the Tornados 46-31. CUA shot just 30.6 percent, while the Cowgirls shot 52.3 percent, marking the third straight game they have shot over 50 percent. Kassandra Bills led the Tornados with 11 points and Megan Rogers and Laneam Harris added 10 points each. HSU improved to 19-4 with the win and to 17-3 in league play. Concordia-Austin fell to 8-15 overall and 8-12 in ASC play. The Cowgirls will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the home finale for the five Cowgirl seniors. |
