Hardin-Simmons women's basketball team remained perfect and clinched the right to host the American Southwest Conference Tournament with an 87-61 win over Concordia-Austin, Saturday afternoon in senior day at the Mabee Complex.
Senior KraTaura Buckner led the Cowgirls with 22 points while senior Kendra Anderson had her fifth straight double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. The Cowgirls started off sluggish after an emotional pregame ceremony, but responded to take a 43-27 halftime lead. Anderson and Hannah Jones, both post player hit back-to-back 3-pointers at the end of the half to give the Cowgirls some breathing room. Tabatha Callaway and Danielle Barnett led Concordia with 13 points each. The Cowgirls moved to 22-0 overall and 12-0 in ASC West action while Concordia drops to 11-11 overall and 6-6 in conference. HSU has now won 36 straight games at the Mabee Complex and claimed their fourth straight American Southwest Conference West Division crown. The 22 straight wins are a school record. HSU will be back in action Thursday when it travels to Alpine, Texas to take on Sul Ross at 5:30 p.m. |
