BELTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball game won its sixth straight game with a 75-65 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday evening in Belton and moved within a win of clinching a spot in their sixth straight American Southwest Conference Tournament. The Cowgirls were paced by Lauren Harris' 18 points. Diana Martinez added 17 points, seven assists and seven rebounds and Veronica Jones added 11. Freshman Magna Green had 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. HSU forced 29 UMHB turnovers and committed just nine. Lisa Martinez led the Crusaders with 26 points and Jennifer Gilchriest added 14. The Cowgirls improved to 20-2 on the year and 10-1 in ASC West play. UMHB fell to 12-9 overall and to 5-5 in ASC West play. Hardin-Simmons will return to action Saturday at Concordia-Austin. |
