Feb. 8, 2003 SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' second-ranked women's basketball team moved to 20-0 with a sluggish 71-45 American Southwest Conference win over Texas Lutheran in Seguin on Saturday. The Cowgirls turned in a great defensive effort that saw them limit the Bulldogs to 21.3 percent shooting. The Cowgirls held a 43-32 advantage on the boards, which allowed them to off set a season-high 29 turnovers. HSU opened the game with a 12-0 run and never looked back, limiting the Bulldogs to just 16 points in the first half. Kendra Anderson led the Cowgirls with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Harris chipped in with 10 points. Kim Farringer led TLU with 12 points. The win improved the Cowgirls to 20-0 on the year and 10-0 in ASC West play. Texas Lutheran fell to 6-14 and 3-6. HSU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday in a game that will most likely decide who hosts the American Southwest Conference Tournament. |
