Cowgirls Roll at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team moved to 18-2 on the year with an 88-43 win over Schreiner University, Saturday in American Southwest Conference action in Kerrville.

It was a group effort for the Cowgirls as all 14 players scored and each played eight minutes or more. The loss was the 80th in a row by Schreiner.

The Cowgirls jumped to a 40-18 halftime lead and never looked back. Melissa Henley led the way with 15 points. Freshman Maigen Sawyer had nine points off the bench and reserves Laci Walker and Jamie Jones had eight points each.

Liberty Liesman had 12 points to pace Schreiner, who had 32 turnovers and shot just 26 percent in the game.

With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 18-2 on the year and 16-2 in ASC play. Schreiner fell to 0-21 overall and 0-18 in league play. HSU plays at Howard Payne with a potential right to host the American Southwest Conference Tournament on the line.
