ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its 12th straight game and fifth game in nine days with a 71-57 win over Texas Lutheran, Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex in Abilene.

Melissa Henley led the Cowgirls offensively with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lyssa Dennard added 14 points and Sonya West had 11 points to pace the balanced attack.

The Cowgirls trailed late in the first half before a late surge gave them a 35-32 halftime lead. HSU came out of the halftime locker room strong and increased its lead to 47-36 with 15:59 to play in the game.

A Dennard 3-pointer made it 66-48 with 4:38 to play finally put the pesky Bulldogs away and the Cowgirls emptied the bench.

Sara Kainer led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kristin Smith had 12 points for TLU.

The Cowgirls are now 18-2 on the year and 16-2 in American Southwest Conference action. Texas Lutheran is 3-18 overall and 3-15 in league action.
