Cowgirls Roll Over Schreiner

Abilene, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team sent Schreiner to its 77th consecutive loss with a 96-48 pasting at the Mabee Complex in American Southwest Conference action on Saturday.

HSU started off slow, but heated up and ran away from the Mountaineers. A Keila Stader 3-point play at the 9:22 mark gave the Cowgirls a 17-12 lead and fueled a 34-9 run to close the first half.

Melissa Henley led the Cowgirls with 19 points. Diana Martinez had 15 points and 10 assists in 20 minutes and Strader had 11 points. The Cowgirls played mainly its bench the last 17 minutes of the game. Liberty Liesmann led the Mountaineers with 15 points.

The win improved the Cowgirls to 15-2 overall and 13-2 in ASC West play. Schreiner fell to 0-19 overall and 0-16 in ASC play. HSU travels across town to play at McMurry on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The game is for first place in the ASC West and an inside track on hosting the ASC Tournament.
