Jan. 29, 2004 KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's responded from its first loss in 14 games with a 90-58 pounding of Schreiner, Thursday evening in American Southwest Conference action in Kerrville. The win improved the Cowgirls to 15-2 overall and 5-1 in ASC West play. The win coupled with Howard Payne's loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday the Cowgirls moved into sole possession of first-place in the conference. Lauren Harris led the HSU effort with 28 points. She started 1-for-5 but hit 10 of her next 11 shots, including six 3-pointers. Diana Martinez added 14 and Melissa Henley added 10. Schreiner (0-17, 0-7) was led by Melanie Ledesma's 18 points. HSU plays at second-place Texas Lutheran on Saturday. The game will be on KAGT 90.5 at 12:45. |
