Cowgirls Win Ninth Straight

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team moved its winning streak to nine games with a 75-43 pounding of Texas Lutheran, Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action in Seguin.

The Cowgirls came out hot and led 21-4 at the 9:57 mark of the first half. Sarah Hauk had eight points in the opening surge. The Bulldogs never recovered and the game was never closer than 15 the rest of the way.

HSU liberally used its bench as all 15 players played in the game and 13 of them scored. Melissa Henley led a balanced attack with 11 points. Six other players had six or more points.

Texas Lutheran was led by Amber Bone's 11 points. HSU outrebounded the Bulldogs 49-37 to move to 15-0 on the year when it outrebounds its opponents.

HSU improved to 15-2 on the season and 13-2 in ASC play. Texas Lutheran fell to 3-15 overall and 3-12 in league play.

HSU hosts McMurry Monday in the Kiwanis Club of Abilene Basketball Shootout at 5:30 in the Mabee Complex.
