ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team got a spark from its bench and rolled to an 80-53 win over Texas Lutheran in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Thursday. Freshman Shelby Hodges scored a career-best 17 points and hauled down seven rebounds. Sarah Hauk had eight points, six assists, six steals and four rebounds in 23 minutes. The Cowgirls opened up a tight game with a 14-2 run to close out the first half to take a 38-21 lead at the break. The Cowgirls led by as many as 37 points in the second half. HSU received 39 points from the bench, after they reserves scored two points in two games last week. Lyssa Dennard had 15 points, Melissa Henley had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Diana Martinez had 10 points and seven assists to fueld the Cowgirl effort. Sara Kiner led TLU with 21 points and 11 rebounds. HSU moved to 14-2 overall and 12-2 in league play. Texas Lutheran fell to 7-11 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
