ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team rebounded from its loss to Howard Payne on Thursday night with a 93-52 win over Sul Ross State in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Saturday afternoon. HSU jumped to a 9-0 lead and Sul Ross State never recovered. HSU led by as many as 17 on three different occasions in the first half including 44-27 at halftime. The Cowgirls did not let up in the second half outscoring the Lobos 49-25 in the second half. No one played more than 22 minutes for the Cowgirls. Laci Walker scored 12 points, Melissa Contrucci and Lyssa Dennard had 11 points each and Kristen Harris had 10 points for HSU. Danielle Furr had 21 points and Nitra Woods had 20 for Sul Ross State. The Cowgirls are now 14-3 on the year and 12-2 in ASC West play. Sul Ross State fell to 5-12 overall and 3-11 in conference play. HSU plays at conference co-leader Howard Payne on Thursday night. |
