Final Stats

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its eighth straight game with an 80-63 win over Schreiner in American Southwest Conference action at the Edington Center in Kerrville.

Sonya West had a season-best 23 points and 14 rebounds and Melissa Henley added 14 points and Lyssa Dennard had 12 as the Cowgirls went on a 31-9 run from the end of the first half to trough the first nine minutes of the second half.

The Cowgirls trailed 38-30 before an 8-0 run before half tied the game at 38-38. HSU outscored the Mountaineers 42-25 in the second half.

Vanessa Lopez had 26 points and Monica Enriquez had 17 for the much improved Schreiner squad.

HSU improved to 14-2 on the year and 12-2 in ASC action. Schreiner fell to 5-12 overall and 5-10 in league play.

HSU plays at Texas Lutheran on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be on KAGT 90.5 FM.
